I uploaded a story on my Instagram about washing the makeup brushes. As a response I got so many DMs of people asking about the details of how I wash my makeup brushes exactly and how I make them dry afterwards. Instead of replying every single person I thought of writing this blog post so that more people can take notes from it.
Fist of all,
Why do you need to clean makeup brushes?
Make up brushes need to be cleaned on a regular basis otherwise they can harbour dirt and oil which gets transferred onto your skin. Every time you use your dirty brushes, you are basically transferring all the bacteria and dust back to your skin which can ultimately result into BREAKOUTS/ ACNE.
Should you wash your new makeup brushes before you use them for the first time?
A lot of people don’t wash their brand new brushes before first using them. After all, they’re new and still in their plastic packs, so they’re bound to be clean and germ-free, right? Well no. You see, you have no way of knowing where your brushes have been.
Your brushes are gonna come into contact with your skin, so you need to make sure they are clean before you use them, otherwise you run the risk of them making you break out. A good wash will also make the strong and unpleasant glue scent new brushes tend to have disappear.
How to clean the brushes and what do you need to clean the brushes?
You can use household products such as dishwashing liquid or a mild shampoo to clean makeup brushes effectively.
Step 1:

Step 2:

Step 3:

Step 4:

Don't worry if you don't have the cleaning mat. You can use a soap, and swirl the brush on the surface of the soap and deep clean it.

Step 5:

Step 6:

Step 7: How to dry the makeup brushes after cleaning them?
It's very easy. There are different ways to dry the brushes e.g hang them upside down somewhere, but i don't do this. what I do is; I squeeze the excess moisture from the bristles of the brushes with a clean towel or a tissue paper. After that I put them somewhere like on a bed or a side table under the the fan so that they can get dried.

And... you're done. Remember, it is very important to clean your brushes at least once a month. However, you need to clean your Foundation and concealer brushes, at least once a week to prevent a buildup of product. And because these brushes are used on your face, the cleaner, the better. Brushes that are used around the eyes should be cleaned at least twice a month, while all others can be washed once a month.

Your brushes should be neat and clean so make sure to give them a good wash at-least after every 2 weeks. HAPPY BRUSHES, HAPPY YOU!
