If I told you that you’ve been applying your perfume wrong your entire life, you probably wouldn’t believe me, right? But I can prove it to you.
Do you always press your wrists together after apply perfume on your wrists? If yes, then I’m sorry to tell you but thats totally wrong. By rubbing your skin together, you’ll disturb the top notes of the fragrance, which means it won’t last as long and the scent will be altered. But then what’s the right way? Just spray your fragrance and let it sink on your skin – whatever you do, DON’T DAB.
If you store your perfume in the bathroom or on a display shelf, you’re not storing it correctly either. Most people don’t realize there are best practices for applying fragrance, many of which make perfume last longer. Here we’ll cover some tips and best practices for getting the most out of your perfume — both for wearing it and storing it. But, before that let me explain to you the basics that you must know.
When it comes to fragrance one of the most important things to note, are the layers each perfume is made up of. Usually, every fragrance contains three notes;

Top notes
The top note, also known as the head note, is the first scent you smell after spraying and generally fades quickly. (disappears after 10-20 minutes),
Middle notes
Middle notes, also known as the Heart notes, is a note which becomes noticeable after 15 minutes, and disappears after like 10 minutes or 1 hour.
Base notes
Base note (the strongest scent) is the one that lingers for up to 1-12 hours. The base and the middle notes together are the main themes of a perfume.
To sample the true scent of the fragrance you're testing, wait until it has dried on your skin before smelling. The first scent you smell as soon as a fragrance is sprayed is the top note, which disappears after a few minutes anyway.
Now, lets get to the tricks and hacks
1) Store in a cool dry place
If you want your fragrances to last longer, don't store them in your bathroom or other damp, warm places. Heat, light, and humidity will break down the perfume and lessen the quality of the fragrance. Instead, store them in cool, dry spots like on the vanity in your room and away from windows.

2) Use Vaseline
Perfume lasts a lot longer if you apply it to oily, damp skin. So for that, rub Vaseline on your pulse points before spraying your perfume to make the scent last longer. The vaseline will help lock the scent and will hold the fragrance to your skin longer than if you were to spray it onto dry skin.

3) Moisturise
Moisturise first before spraying your favourite perfume. It is basically an alternate for using vaseline. The purpose to moisturise is the same as that of vaseline i.e. the oily, damp skin helps lock the scent. This is called “Layering of Fragrances”.
4) Apply perfume right after shower
This should be the very first thing you do after getting out of a shower. Spray your perfume right after taking a shower and before getting dressed. The moisture on your skin will help lock in the scent. This will also prevent the fragrance from staining delicate clothes or jeweller. That’s the best way to avoid spray marks.

5) Don’t DAB
Like I mentioned before, this is a No-go. By dabbing, you simply ruin the scent. By doing this, you'll force the top notes to disappear faster than intended and as a result make your fragrance not last as long. Just spray your fragrance and let it sink on your skin naturally.

6) Target the warmer areas of your body (pulse points)
If you apply your perfume to warmer areas of the body, it’ll be more intense and be fragrant for longer. More specifically, apply it to your pulse points – where the blood vessels are at the surface on your skin (your wrists, elbows, neck, chest, the back of the knees, ankles, and calves). Your pressure points naturally radiate heat, helping the fragrance evaporate from the skin.

7) Spritz your hairbrush
Spritz your hairbrush with your favourite scent and then brush your hair with it. This way the perfume will easily disperse through your hair without causing any damage.

Some bonus tips you might love
1) Line your dresser drawers with tissue paper and spray them with your favourite scent to make your clothes smell amazing.
2) Spray your pillow with calming scents before heading to bed to help you sleep better.
3) Spray cotton swabs with your perfume and hide them in sandwich bags inside your handbag for quick touch-ups throughout the day. It's much easier to carry cotton swabs in your clutch than an entire perfume bottle.
4) You can use a cute cake tray to store your perfumes.
